Limburg Node-to-Node
Day Three

:: Saturday, May 21 ::
 Genk to Genk

about 64 kilometers
and a celebration

=====================================
Benny joined us for the loop ride today out and back to Hotel Zuid. After biking along the Albert Canal, which connects Liege to Antwerp, we headed north to the beautiful woods surrounding the open air museum, Bokrijk.

At node 91 we joined many others to experience "Cycling through Water" on a 200 meter paved path crossing a small lake.

At the lowest point on the path we were almost eye level with the surface of the water.

We lunched in Hasselt at an outdoor cafe. We rode through many neighborhoods of newer homes on village outskirts, through meadows, by ponds, in and out of woods, through wetlands, past many farm animals.
We rarely encountered cars and were almost always on paved bike paths or small country roads.

We celebrated Karlyn's Masters in City and Regional Planning degree at Restaurant U in Genk with a special dinner of local foods.

As we and a small number of other diners sat round the "U" with chef and assistant
in the middle, Karlyn noticed that the blank wall behind us was a good background for a portrait of her parents.
